CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg Police charged a man with shooting and killing two people in West Charlotte.
CMPD officers arrested Demone Evans on Friday and charged him with murder.
They said he shot 21-year-old Dominique McGriff and 23-year-old Tia Mitchell back in May. Police also said he knew the victims prior to the shooting. McGriff and Mitchell were found dead in a car on Morning Drive in West Charlotte.
Eyewitness News spoke to the chief of police on Saturday, and he told us that the victims were accused of robbing Evans.
A woman who lived nearby was driving home when she told Eyewitness News that she heard gunshots. The woman saw the car roll into the woods.
When she approached the car, she said she saw the two victims slumped over.
Both victims have been arrested in the past.
The chief also told us a combination of tips, witness information, and evidence collected at the crime scene led to Evans’ arrest.

I wish demone the best at court. I hope they offer him a low number plea. A second chance at life won’t be wasted if he gets it!!!!

No, I do not know him, but most information about him would be public and can be found in his files through the Clerk of Courts office or, if he has been found guilty and sentenced, through the N.C. Dept. of Corrections.
