A Davie County, NC sheriff’s Deputy was wounded and his K-9 partner was killed by gunshot wounds.

Authorities say Deputy Chris Fleming was shot in the shoulder during a hostage situation with a 19-year-old suspect in a home invasion.

Authorities said Fleming was trying to serve a warrant when the suspect took off in a car and eventually took two hostages at a home on South Angell Road.

The dog was sent in after he released the hostages.

“He had released the hostages out the front door of the mobile home, and that is when we decided to send the K-9 in to subdue him. That is when he disappeared behind a wall and shots began firing,” said Davie County Sheriff Andy Stokes.

Fleming is expected to be OK. The identity of the suspect hasn’t been released.
