A dog beat police in the search for a missing revolver Friday after officers discovered the loaded gun in the pit bull’s mouth, according to Shelby Police.

Officers were responding to a call after gun shots had been reported in the Orange Street area around 11 p.m., and during the investigation, attempted to stop the driver of a car after an officer saw a revolver lying on the passenger seat of the Honda, according to the police report.

Shortly after the officer questioned Marik Abdul Lipscomb, the driver, as to why he hadn’t stopped at a stop sign, Lipscomb threw the car in reverse and started backing away from police, according to the report.

Shelby Police said officers gave chase and were able to stop Lipscomb, 38, on Oakland Drive.

When officers searched the car, there was no gun, according to the report.

Police canvassed the area, looking along the roadways and between houses but instead of the weapon, saw a brown pit bull on a long chain, the report stated.

Lipscomb refused to tell police where the gun was, according to the report, but as police were making arrangements to have the man’s car towed an officer yelled “Dan, the dog has it in his mouth.”

“…the black handle of the gun (had) saliva and bite marks,” the report stated. “I observed five rounds of federal 38 special inside the cylinder of the weapon.”

The gun and bullets were placed into an evidence bag, according to police.

Lipscomb was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and a stop sign violation.

Rewarded Criminal Rodney King Dead at 47

June 18, 2012

King was a 25-year-old paroled robber driving drunk when he fled from an attempted traffic stop that would have sent him back to prison. He led the California Highway Patrol on an 8-mile chase that reached up to 115 mph over freeways and through residential neighborhoods

King’s third fiancee, Cynthia Kelley, found him lifeless at the bottom of the pool at his home about 55 miles east of Los Angeles and called 911 at 5:25 a.m., police said.

Kelley, who met King when she was a juror on his civil case, told friends King was drinking and smoking marijuana all day, TMZ reported. Just before she heard a splash and found him in deep end, she said he was naked, yelling and banging on the window, TMZ said.

Police Lt. Dean Hardin said there was no sign of foul play.

The 1992 L.A. riots, some of the worst America has ever seen, lasted six days. They left 55 people dead, nearly $1 billion in property destroyed and swaths of Los Angeles aflame. The military was called in to stop the rioting.
At the height of the violence, King appeared at an impromptu press conference to make what became an iconic plea: “People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along?”
In the years since the riots, King was arrested multiple times, mostly for alcohol related incidents,  by multiple law enforcement agencies across the U.S.

Al Sharpton said King’s legacy was to make America wake up to racial profiling and police misconduct, but failed to mention that King was a 25-year-old paroled robber driving drunk when he fled from an attempted traffic stop that would have sent him back to prison. He led the California Highway Patrol on an 8-mile chase that reached up to 115 mph over freeways and through residential neighborhoods.

An armed Clifton Township, NJ off-duty police officer surrendered to police Sunday after barricading himself inside a Doylestown Township home for several hours.

The shooter, Richard Klementovich, 42, surrendered to police shortly before midnight. Police say the suspect was holed up in the home of his estranged wife at 25 Bittersweet Drive for nearly ten hours. Klementovich was the only person inside the home during the standoff, authorities said.

Police were called to the residence around 1:44 p.m. to break up an alleged dispute between neighbors. It escalated into a standoff and a SWAT team moved armored tanks into the backyard.

Investigators say the off-duty cop began shooting from the windows at police officers.

“It was just like pow, pow, pow…it was like a rifle. I must have heard 50 shots,” said Dawn Keely, who is a neighbor.

One officer was injured by metal shrapnel. The shots struck two patrol cars and an armored car.

Officers warned other residents to lock themselves in the basement or leave immediately. About a dozen residents were displaced.

The suspect was arraigned at 4 a.m. Monday. He is facing a slew of charges including 14 counts of attempted criminal homicide.

Klementovich and his estranged wife are involved in a bitter divorce, according to friends.
