Police arrested an 18-year-old Union County man they say used the Internet to sell more than 400 items stolen from cars and area stores.
Anatoliy Oleg Shashkov, of Arthur Drive in Lake Park, was charged with one count of felony continuing a criminal enterprise, one count of felony accessing computers, one count of felony identity fraud and two counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
He was in Union County jail Wednesday on $1,000 secured bond. His next court date is April 7.
The items he’s accused of selling are mostly GPS units and iPods — easily stolen objects that people often leave in their cars. Police believe Shashkov has been receiving the items — which are valued at nearly $26,000 — for the last two years.
Police haven’t said how they learned of Shashkov. But they subpoenaed records from an Internet auction site. When officers made contact with Shashkov at his house, they say they recovered several more stolen items in his possession.
