CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A repeat thief is on the run from police for the second time.

The latest incident involves assaulting officers.

The Violent Criminal Apprehension Team is asking for your help in finding Ivory Chappell. His unusual car could be the key to tracking him down.

They believe the 26-year-old could be hiding out with family on the east side of town and may be driving an orange and black Range Rover.

His most recent charges include breaking and entering, running from police and reckless driving.

He is 6 feet tall and weighs 260 pounds. If you know where he is and can lead police to him, you could get a cash reward. Call VCAT at 704-336-8228.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man charged with shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend early Sunday morning in west Charlotte was arrested overnight in Detroit, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police announced this morning.

Tracy Serveria Gilliam
Investigators say Tracy Gilliam, 27, shot LaSheira Hall, 29, at her aunt’s house on Avalon Road near Tuckaseegee Road at about 5 a.m. Sunday after they argued.

Hall was a mother of three children under 10, and Gilliam is the father of her 6-month-old daughter. Family members said Hall was holding their baby when she was shot.

Witnesses told police that Gilliam ran from the house. Investigators obtained a murder warrant and began looking for him.

Someone phoned in a tip to Detroit police that Gilliam was hiding out in a northeast area of the city. He was soon apprehended, a CMPD spokesperson said.

CMPD homicide detectives are travelling to Detroit to arrange for Gilliam’s extradition back to Charlotte.

Court records show Gilliam served three years in prison for armed robbery and was released in 2007. He also has been convicted of assault on a female and communicating threats, and ordered to complete anger management classes.

He was arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon and shooting into an occupied property last July, but the charges were dismissed in August.
